Waste & Wishes, a startup nurtured by UGM’s Innovative Academy, has successfully secured funding support from the Catalyst Changemakers Ecosystem (CCE) 3.0 program organized by the GoTo Impact Foundation. On this occasion, Waste & Wishes was also given the opportunity to collaborate directly with Bhumee Artani and Setara Indonesia.

“We would like to thank the GoTo Impact Foundation and all partners who support us in realizing our dream of building a regenerative farming ecosystem in Sawangan District, Magelang Regency, Central Java,” said Melchior Raka Daksattama, CEO of Waste & Wishes, expressing his joy and pride in the achievements of his startup.

Melchior also explained that all sustainable regenerative farming development projects will begin in 2025, focusing on organic waste management from agriculture and the community, the construction of composting houses, the establishment of fish ponds, and the construction of chicken coops as testing labs for feed produced from BSF (Black Soldier Fly) maggots.

In addition to the construction project, the regenerative farming program also includes planting 2,000 trees and creating 25 infiltration wells to improve groundwater and enhance environmental quality in the planned location. “We believe that collaboration with Bhumee Artani and Setara Indonesia will bring significant changes to the economic conditions and agricultural land of the Magelang community,” Melchior added. This project is hoped to serve as a local-level sustainable solution model with the potential for expansion nationwide. Similar projects are being carried out in three other locations: the Gandruung Tirta Project in Malang, the Lombok Ecocraft Project in Central Lombok, and the Berikanesia Lestari Project in Belitung.

Waste & Wishes is a company nurtured by UGM’s Innovative Academy, focusing on environmental issues, particularly in integrated waste management, maggot farming, and sustainable agriculture. With a mission to create innovations that solve related problems, Waste & Wishes is committed to supporting environmental resilience and community empowerment.
