Surabaya, November 23, 2024 – The business idea competition initiated by Pertamina, Pertamuda 2024: Seed and Scale, successfully took place in Surabaya from November 18-20, 2024. The event attracted more than 3,000 participants from various universities across Indonesia, including Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM). UGM sent three startup representatives to showcase their business ideas and traction, namely ENOVA, MetaSeaco, and Zona Farm. Among these, MetaSeaco, a UGM-supported startup, achieved a Top 3 position in the Early Stage Startup category and secured IDR 100 million in business development funding through an investment proposal from Mr. Gunawan of PT Dredolf Indonesia. An initial agreement was reached to focus on supporting innovation through the FrisherTech project to manage marine products in the Riau Islands, a region comprising thousands of islands with limited access to electricity. Through this partnership, MetaSeaco is set to play an active role in building a supply chain of solar-powered cooling systems for fishermen in the area.

Demo Day marked the conclusion of the incubation period for Batch 14 of the Innovation Challenge, providing a platform for startups to present their innovative ideas to a panel of experts.

This masterclass brought together 90 participants from various universities, including UGM, UNY, and UNS. The talk show titled “AI for Education: Inspiring Innovation in the Digital Era” was a great success, taking place on September 30, 2024, at Grand Rohan Yogyakarta. The event, which ran from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM, featured a lineup of inspiring speakers, including Prof. Dr. Ir. Ridi Ferdiana, S.T., M.T., IPM, Affi Khresna, Ageng Sajiwo, and Gayatri H. Putri. Throughout the event, the speakers provided an insightful overview of the development of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in both the education sector and the creative industry.
Waste & Wishes, a startup nurtured by UGM’s Innovative Academy, has successfully secured funding support from the Catalyst Changemakers Ecosystem (CCE) 3.0 program organized by the GoTo Impact Foundation. On this occasion, Waste & Wishes was also given the opportunity to collaborate directly with Bhumee Artani and Setara Indonesia.
Yogyakarta, September 28, 2024 – A total of 35 participants gathered at The 101 Style Malioboro, Yogyakarta, to take part in a Coding Jam event organized by Innovative Academy in collaboration with GeekGarden, a software development company specializing in innovative technology solutions. Three speakers from GeekGarden – Dhiazulfa Maulana, Achmad Fawait, and Masga Satria Wirawan – took turns providing in-depth presentations on the concepts and implementation of Node.js.
On Friday, September 27, 2024, UGM Science Technopark hosted a signing ceremony for cooperation agreements related to the Applied Research Grant and Startup Grant programs at Hotel 101 Style Malioboro, Yogyakarta. This event marks a pivotal moment for the Promoting Research and Innovation through Modern and Efficient Science and Technology Parks (PRIME STeP) program, aimed at accelerating innovation and technology growth through applied research and startup development.
One of the startups supported by Innovative Academy UGM, Ruang Halal, represented UGM in the Startup Go Global Program held in Brisbane, Australia, from June 23-28, 2024. This program was facilitated by the Ministry of Cooperatives and SMEs to support the optimization of local startups and expand international cooperation networks for incubator institutions in Indonesia. Dedy, the CEO of Ruang Halal, expressed his pride in this opportunity and thanked Innovative Academy UGM for their guidance. Ruang Halal, which operates in the halal economy sector, offers services such as halal consulting, a halal marketplace, and a halal export hub. Since its establishment in 2020, they have helped around 300 SMEs obtain halal certification for free and served paid clients both domestically and internationally. They also participated in the Indonesian halal product exhibition in Brunei Darussalam from June 26-30, 2024, facilitated by the Indonesian Embassy and the Central Java Provincial State-Owned Enterprise House. Dedy emphasized that this success would not have been possible without the role of Innovative Academy UGM and that Ruang Halal will continue to innovate to help Indonesia become a global halal hub. The Innovative Academy held its final mentoring session at the Eastparc Hotel, Yogyakarta (05/15). The topic of this session was Pitching and Fundraising. Innovative Academy chose this topic to prepare participants for the incubation event, Demo Day. The morning session began with a presentation by Denny Wijayanto, S.E., Head of Program at Innovative Academy, who shared his experiences in pitching according to the target audience.
