The talk show titled “AI for Education: Inspiring Innovation in the Digital Era” was a great success, taking place on September 30, 2024, at Grand Rohan Yogyakarta. The event, which ran from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM, featured a lineup of inspiring speakers, including Prof. Dr. Ir. Ridi Ferdiana, S.T., M.T., IPM, Affi Khresna, Ageng Sajiwo, and Gayatri H. Putri. Throughout the event, the speakers provided an insightful overview of the development of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in both the education sector and the creative industry.
The first presentation was delivered by Prof. Ridi Ferdiana, Director of the Information Technology Directorate at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), along with Affi Khresna, Chair of the Jogja Festivals Forum and Expo. Prof. Ridi explained how AI has transformed learning patterns for both students and lecturers. He emphasized the importance of addressing these changes wisely, advocating for collaboration between AI and education to create a unified approach. Affi Khresna added that the creative industries have also been impacted by AI, which has reshaped the landscape of creative work to a certain extent.
“AI can be used for adaptive learning, and its implementation can transform how learners engage with education,” Prof. Ridi explained. He pointed out that future challenges will only increase, and using AI wisely in education can lead to more efficient learning.
The second speaker, Ageng Sajiwo, highlighted that AI can inspire greater creativity and critical thinking in both learning and work environments. Gayatri H. Putri, a well-known influencer, added that AI also has psychological impacts. She advocated for a balanced approach to AI usage to prevent excessive dependence.
The event became even more lively during the networking session, where participants had the opportunity to engage directly with the speakers and other attendees. This session fostered an exchange of ideas and collaboration among educators, academics, and industry professionals. “The event was valuable and insightful, offering opportunities to build connections,” said Ardi, one of the participants.
With the success of this event, the organizers hope that similar discussions will continue, promoting the integration of AI technology in education across Indonesia and creating a more modern educational system that is ready to face the challenges of the digital era.
