Indonesia, a large country with immense digital potential, places young digital talents as the main pillar in the development of a knowledge-based economy. In efforts to build a superior economy, the government encourages society to compete in the era of the industrial revolution through the declaration of four digital industry visions by the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology of the Republic of Indonesia. To realize this mission, together with the Innovative Academy under the Directorate of Business Development of Gadjah Mada University, the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology organized the Kickoff of the 1000 Startup Movement (24/2) via Zoom, opened by Dr. Ir. Bonifasius Wahyu Pudjianto, M.Eng, Director of Digital Economy, Ministry of Communication and Information Technology, and also featuring various experienced mentors in their fields.
“This movement is a real movement to realize an innovative young generation and to foster networking for synergy among students, lecturers, policymakers, and researchers,” said Dr. Hargo Utomo M.B.A., Director of Business Development, Gadjah Mada University.
Prof. Ir. Nizam, M.Sc., DIC., Ph.D., IPU, ASEAN.Eng., also explained at this event, “There are many digital startups but their products are imported. It is necessary to strengthen how to bring national or regional productivity to the national market until it becomes a global product.” “To bring the Indonesian market to the global market, creativity and a high network are needed to enter a wider market. This can lead to the creation of a green environment,” concluded Nizam.
In this kickoff event, participants were encouraged to adopt a mindset as startups that begin with usefulness. Founder of Qisqus, Delta Purna Wiyangga, said, “Do it for yourself, by being useful to others will make yourself happy. Look at other countries and solve problems here to find something that can be developed, and apply a growth mindset, believing that today’s position is better than yesterday, tomorrow is better than today,” Delta stated.
In its implementation, this kickoff event also featured two Tech Talks sessions with Prof. Dr. Ir. Hammam Riza, M.Sc. from KORIKA (Collaborative Research & Innovation of Artificial Intelligence Industry) National Research and Innovation Agency in the topic of Artificial Intelligence, Andy Fajar Handika Serial Founder & Co-Founder of Netra & Loka Mining in the topic of Web3 Implementation in Industry & Economic Development, and Patota Tambunan from the Ministry of Health in the first session.
