On Friday, September 27, 2024, UGM Science Technopark hosted a signing ceremony for cooperation agreements related to the Applied Research Grant and Startup Grant programs at Hotel 101 Style Malioboro, Yogyakarta. This event marks a pivotal moment for the Promoting Research and Innovation through Modern and Efficient Science and Technology Parks (PRIME STeP) program, aimed at accelerating innovation and technology growth through applied research and startup development.

A total of 10 selected startups were awarded the Startup Grant, while 17 UGM researchers received the Applied Research Grant, formalizing their participation through the signing of cooperation agreements. The signing signifies the official launch of the program, which is fully supported by UGM’s Directorate of Business Development as the Project Implementation Unit, and the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology as the Project Management Unit. This initiative is expected to generate breakthrough innovations with significant economic and technological impacts at the national level.

The Startup Grant program focuses on fostering the development of startups, enabling them to grow and contribute substantially to Indonesia’s economy. Meanwhile, the Applied Research Grant supports researchers in funding applied research projects with great potential to generate innovative solutions that offer direct benefits to society. This program highlights the synergy between the government and UGM in creating an ecosystem that supports research and innovation that aligns with public needs.

The event also brought together key figures from the innovation ecosystem, including academics, researchers, industry players, and startups, to strengthen networking and collaboration across various sectors. UGM Science Technopark continues to play a central role in supporting national efforts to foster technological innovation and accelerate the commercialization of research outputs.
